Elicitation technique
Example of exercise using elicitation
Elicitation is a modern technique that diminishes the teacher's effort and makes students understand and discover new content on a given basis.
For example, the teacher asks students to say something about the Christmas holidays in the UK and the USA. The exercise is written so that the whole class can use the information to complete the task.
The teacher then asks students to tell how this holiday is illustrated in paintings over the centuries ("Nativity", by Giotto, "Birth of Christ", by Peter Rubens or "Adoration of the Magi" by Albrecht Durer), or to say in which literary works they read extensively about Christmas ("A Christmas Carol", by Charles Dickens, "Letters from Father Christmas", by JRR Tolkien, or "Christmas Stories" by Truman Capote) etc.
